The DC Admin Judge who sued his dry cleaners for $54 million for allegedly losing his pants is losing his job.
Sweet justice.

Why is the Pants Suit Judge Still on the DC Payroll?
DC Administrative Judge Roy Pearson, known round the world for suing his dry cleaner for $54 million for allegedly losing a pair of pants, is still collecting his $100,000 per year salary from DC taxpayers, even though his job "expired" back in May.
This week, the owners of the dry cleaners closed the store involved, citing financial strain and the emotional toll.
The Administrative board that was evaluating whether or not to retain Pearson for a 10-year stint and was expected to release a decision in early August. That never happened. Pearson is currently working as attorney advisor to the DC Office of Administrative Hearings.
Chief Administrative Law Judge Tyrone Butler (202.442.9091) -- why is this whackjob still on the City Payroll almost six months after his term expired?

Sadistic DC Judge Roy Pearson Still Pursuing Pants Suit

Despite losing his case to get $54 million from family owned dry cleaners for allegedly losing his pair of pants, Roy Pearson plans to press on and is asking the judge in the case to reverse his decision. He's made it clear to the dry cleaner's lawyer that he does not plan to back down. According to Marc Fisher:
Pearson apparently continues to believe that his crusade to get rich off an immigrant family's small business would somehow better the lives of all D.C. residents.
The family that owns the dry cleaners -- the Chungs (pictured) -- have been wiped out by the more than $100,000 in attorney's fees needed to defend themselves from this sadistic lunatic. If you want to help, you can contribute, or attend a fundraiser on July 24.
And, if I can find the name and email address of the DC government official who is responsible for possibly appointing Pearson to a 10 appointment as a DC admin law judge, I'll share that too.

Keeping Judge Roy Pearson
The DC government is deciding whether or not to reappoint Roy Pearson as an administrative judge in the DC government. Judge Roy, as you may recall, is the guy who is suing a family owned dry cleaners for $54 million for losing a pair of pants.
Some say Pearson's constitutional right to sue is none of the DC government's business. Others point to the requirements for DC admin judges to posses judicial temperament.
As a DC taxpayer (and dry cleaner user) I say: give Pearson a friggin' kick in the seat of his pants suit. "Judicial temperament?" Not. We could use one less nut job down at city hall.

The $54 Million Britches -- Where's the Golden Stitches?
Via DCist, Judge Roy Pearson's alleged pants (which happen to be a pair of suit pants and happen to have a laundry number attached that matches his ticket). It would appear, judging from the apparent waist size, that harassing family-owned dry cleaners with outrageous law suits doesn't burn many calories.
Better hit the gym, Roy. At your age, the extra girth and anger issues aren't good for your health.

The $65 million Pants Suite -- Update
Update: When I first posted this story, I included a link to the Judge's bio on the DC City Government Web site. The bio has now gone missing. I guess he's even embarrassed the DC City Government. Who'd a thunk that possible?
Recall the story of DC Judge Roy Pearson who is suing a local laundry for $65 million because they lost his pair of pants in 2005?
The case went to trial yesterday. Marc Fisher again has the deets on the judge who would take this family-owned laundry to the cleaners.
Highlights of Judge Roy Pearson's testimony (or I should say lowlights):
Again -- why is this guy on the public payroll in the DC Judicial system?

Highlights of Judge Roy Pearson's testimony (or I should say lowlights):
After questioning eight witnesses, Pearson spent two hours telling his own story, but as he came to the part about when Soo Chung finally told him she had found the missing pants, the tale of the $10.50 alteration that went awry proved to be too much.
"These are not my pants," Pearson recalled telling Chung when she handed him a pair of gray pants with cuffs. "I have in my adult life, with one exception, never worn pants with cuffs."
"And she said, 'These are your pants.' "
Pearson paused. He struggled to breathe deeply. He could not continue. Pearson blurted a request for a break, stood up, turned around and walked out of the courtroom, tears dripping from his full and reddened eyes.
Again -- why is this guy on the public payroll in the DC Judicial system?
