A Magnetar cracks and spews Gamma Rays.A Magnetar is not a character in the X-Men. NASA says its a neutron star with a super-duper magnetic field.

Nasa Image of the Day
According to NASA:Generations of stars can be seen in this infrared portrait from NASA's Spitzer
Space Telescope. In this wispy star-forming region, called W5, the oldest stars
can be seen as blue dots in the centers of the two hollow cavities.
And according to Sarah Palin, those oldest stars would be about, oh 7,000 years old.
