O Holy Night

I heard my favorite Christmas carol today, O Holy Night. It's a shame the third verse isn't sung very often as it's the most powerful...and the most revolutionary:

Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease.

Oops.

Don't think the church has quite got the ceasing oppression in His name part down. Maybe sometime in the next couple thousand years.

As Gilbert Chesterson said, Christianity hasn't failed...it just hasn't been tried.

A True Offense to Christianity

Of these two photos, I would argue the one on the right is the greater offense to Christianity.The message "God hates," whether it's fags, jews, infidels or left-handed blue-eyed people has been responsible for how much misery on this planet? The message "God hates" will continue to justify real violence long after the image of the dildo-laden last supper parody is forgotten. Christians -- know the real enemy to Christ's teachings.

Get Religion Out of the Presidential Race

Mike Wallace has no business asking Mitt Romney if he has broken his church's rules on premarital sex.

Candidates shouldn't use their religion in their campaigns and we shouldn't delve into it. Yes, the beliefs of Mormons are strange to many, but so is mainstream Christianity's practice of ritual cannibalism. Do we really need to go there?
