Question. I paid $40 to check my bags and then was told I needed to put my backpack under the seat in front of me so people who didn't pay to check their bags could use the overhead bins. I refused. Was that reasonable or out of line?
I hear ya. Just got done with a slew of trips myself, and am constantly impressed by the HUGE bags people bring into the cabin these days. I suppose they don't trust the airlines and are worried that they'll lose their luggage, or maybe they're cheap. But yeah all the extra baggage in the cabin does slow the loading and unloading of the people.
I'm with you on this, Scott. I used to travel a lot and people would carry on two huge suitcases and a personal item. The gate agents and flight attendants did nothing. Once a gate agent stopped my partner from carrying a small suitcase and a garment bag on, because neither one was considered a carry-on. She made him check it as luggage on a plane that was half full (or is that half empty?)
