Remembering the Wallace Shooting

They're letting the guy who shot presidential candidate George Wallace back in 1972 go.

I remember when this happened. I was eight. It was the second big public event I remember. The first was the landing on the moon. Coincidentlly I watched news of both events while at my grandparent's house.

The moon landing fascinated me.

The Wallace shooting gave me nightmares for a long time.

You youngsters amuse me. I was 15 when Kennedy was shot while I was at a small ensemble rehearsal in TX. That was a month after my Daddy died. Talk about your nightmares! Another nightmarish scene: the Whitman guy shooting folks from the tower in Austin in August '66, one month before I went off to school....in Austin. It almost killed the buzz. But, still, I went off to the big city, only to be made queer by the communist professors, very much to the dismay of my disapproving mother. Had she only followed her instincts and diverted me off to, say, Baylor or TX A&M, I'm sure everything would have turned out much differently. NOT!
