Gay Profiles in Courage

I read the news this morning about the Colorado church leader, Ted Haggard, accused of hiring a male prostitute and had several thoughts. While news stories like this should make the point that a society that represses gays will lead some to lead double lives and engage in furtive sex, it probably instead reinforces society's view of homosexuality as sleazy depravity.

So, rather than engaging in glee at the thought of another (alleged) closet case hypocrite exposed, I want to highlight the lives of people who find the courage to live openly and naturally.

The first is Michael Shakelford.
