Gay Kiss Provocative?

This is the picture in the school yearbook that East Side High School New Jersey blacked out -- using black markers -- before handing the books out to the kids.

It's hard to see in the photo, but the student, Andre Jackson, is locking lips with another guy. The yearbook contained pictures of straight couples kissing and these were not censored by school officials.

Jackson bought the space in the yearbook as a tribute to his boyfriend. School officials blacked it out as a tribute to their own fear and homophobia.

As another student remarked, "If you don't like it, don't look at it." Ah, there is wisdom at East Side High, after all.

The superintendant of the School, Ms Bolden, said the picture was removed because of its suggestive nature. She also said she did not look at any other pages in the yearbook. I wonder then how she could have missed on the opposite page from Mr. Jackson, a photo of a straight student kissing a girl that was sitting on his lap with his hand on her thigh... no - that isn't suggestive at all... You can call Superintendant Bolden at 973-733-7333 and share with her your thoughts on her indiscretions.

How Ms. Bolden can sleep at night is beyond me. Her apologies such as they were really furthered the evidence that she is a homophobic, stupid woman. I can only take heart in this whole incedent knowing that Mr. Jackson will likely sue the district and make a good start on seed money for his future; b/c he certainly deserves every sinlge penny and more.

Has anyone made the ACLU aware of this?
